Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Vintage Volkswagen Automotive Technician to join our team. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining air cooled and Vanagon Volkswagons, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. You must maintain a clean workspace, and work well in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough diagnostics and troubleshooting of vintage Volkswagen vehicles
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, electrical system repairs, brake repairs, and general mechanical work
- Inspect and test vehicles to identify any potential issues or safety concerns
- Use specialized tools and equipment to perform repairs and adjustments
- Keep accurate records of repairs, services, and parts used
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements related to vintage Volkswagen vehicles
- Assist in Restorations and EV Conversions.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working with vintage Volkswagen vehicles, from 1955 to 1979, and/or Vanagon from 1980-1991
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing air-cooled VW engines, transmissions, and electrical systems knowledge of Vanagon digijet, and digifant efi systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of vintage Volkswagen mechanical systems and components
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high quality work
- Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other team members
- Own a comprehensive set of tools suitable for working on vintage Volkswagen vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASE certification in Automotive Technology or equivalent experience
- Additional certifications or past experience in vintage Volkswagen repair
- Experience working in a specialty auto repair garage focused on vintage vehicles
- Sheet metal fabrication and repair experience is a plus
- Machine tool experience is a plus
